How to get a Library Card In order to check out media in the American Library, you need a library card from the Stadtbibliothek Karlsruhe. There are two ways to obtain this library card. You apply for a Stadtbibliothek card at the American Library unless you already have one You become a member of the Friends of the American Library Karlsruhe e.V., and are automatically entitled to membership in the Stadtbibliothek Karlsruhe. The library card is also valid for the Karlsruhe Public Library as well as all the other branches. To obtain a Stadtbibliothek card (which of course can also be issued at the American Library) you need an ID (passport, etc.).
